Food and Agriculture
Often times when people think of food and agriculture in Indiana, the first image that comes to mind is fields of corn and soybean.  We get it.  But let's set the record straight, there's more to Indiana's food and agriculture industry than meets the eye. In fact, in Terre Haute we like to think of it more like where home meets 21st century demand for organic food, produce and beverages.

Large food manufacturers like IFF (International Flavors & Frangrances Inc.) who produces nutritional & artifical sweeteners and B & G Foods that processes nut-free food products are two companies who export their products worldwide.  There is desire from local farmers to focus on sustainability, and access to local farmers as well as crops and livestock brings organic certified acres to Terre Haute.  And let's not forget the local craft breweries and wineries that pack their own economic jolt.

Distribution & Logistics
Menard's Distribution Center is adjacent to the company's Midwest manufacturing plant which produces block and building trusses for the Menard, Inc. retail stores.  Casey's General Store runs 70+ semi trucks through its Terre Haute distribution center serving over 2000 stores in the Midwest, and Staples Midewest Distribution Center is fourth in a nationwide network of regional distribution centers.

This industry includes wholesale trade companies that connect goods produced with retailers and distributors in a timely and efficient manner.  Other transportation & logistics companies provide integration warehousing, transportation, inventory, packaging and material handling.  And the higher education system in Terre Haute provides excellent support for the industry.

There are 52 national and regional over-the-road trucking companies that serve the general needs of Terre Haute; 12 of which have a terminal in the city.  In addition, a number of firms offer specialized services such as refrigerated units and agriculture units.

Service Industry
