Though Terre Haute is a major national crossroads for interstate and highways, we are also a crossroad for rail.  CSX Transportation, a Class I rail provider, and Indiana Rail Road, a shortline rail service provider, operate hundreds of miles of track here. 

CSX operates and maintains nearly 2,600 miles of track in Indiana and handles more than 2.9 million carloads of freight on the state's rail network.  Indiana Rail Road is a privately-held railroad with 250 miles of track and hauls upwards of 800,000 truckloads of freight.
